The boys and I ventured out in the heat for a few hours at the Chandler Oaks Barn last week and I can not tell you enough how much fun we had. The farm is quaint and offers food to feed chickens, cows and donkeys, tractor rides, a craft in the barn, mini donuts and just good old-fashioned fun at a very low cost!
The fun began the moment we arrived! My oldest is mildly obsessed with tractors (or really any sort of ride on vehicle). Before we could even walk in to pay, he was sitting on top of an old tractor pretending to shift the gears. Upon walking into the door of the sweet shop, we were greeted by the owner’s daughter with a huge welcoming smile. The feed was less than a dollar a bag and worth every single penny! The experience we had feeding the cows was priceless. Both of my boys were able to feed the cows and donkey carrots without any worries. They had us laughing so hard about their tongues that our cheeks were hurting afterwards! Oh… and my son found yet another tractor to ride on out by the cows. After feeding the animals we headed to the barn to make a craft and (much to my surprise) cool off in some air conditioning. They had several different animal paper plate crafts and all the supplies out to make them. The craft was easy for my boys and their friends who are all under the age of 4. Inside we also found that they were selling mini donuts and they were a perfect snack for all of us to share. Afterwards we headed out to the little playground they have set up (its nothing fancy, but the little ones had fun on it) before heading to the big tractor ride around the property. Both boys were asleep before we even made it back out to the main road (let’s be serious, we know this is a HUGE perk of morning outings… NAP GUARUNTEED!).
The Chandler Oaks Barn was a lot of fun and offered a different view than the usual wedding venue that it has come to be known for. We are looking forward to going back to enjoy another day at the farm soon. They have 2 more dates this month that they will be opening the farm to families: July 11th and July 25th from 10:00a.m. - 1:00p.m. The cost is $5 per kid (adults and children under 2 are free). Go check it out, you won’t be disappointed!
